All courses are taught in English, except that TRAN2025 An Introduction to Conference Interpreting will be taught in both English and Cantonese.

Application Procedures
​
HKU Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities programmes are open for application on a rolling basis. Students are strongly encouraged to read through the application procedures and fees before submitting their applications online. All applications should be completed online via the HKU Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities online application system.​

Step 2
ONLINE APPLICATION

Register and create a personal application account on HKU Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities online application system. An email acknowledgement will be sent to your registered e-mail address immediately.​

Complete the online application form and upload all the requested supporting documents.​

Settle the non-refundable application fee online (Not applicable for HKU students).​

*Application will be processed only when ALL supporting documents and the application fee reach our office before the deadline.​

*Once the application has been submitted, amendments are NOT allowed. Please contact us if you wish to make changes to your personal particulars after submission of application. Applicants are strongly advised to check their details carefully before submitting the application and keep a record of their submission.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and therefore you are recommended to submit your application as soon as possible to secure your spots in the Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities. The earlier you apply, the greater chance for securing a place in the summer programme.

Confirm the offer via online application system when you receive the acceptance notice from HKU Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities.

Settle the payment of programme.

PAYMENT
Payment Method: Online payment only
Payment Tool: MasterCard, Visa, UnionPay, Faster Payment System (FPS) and both Hong Kong and China wallets of WeChat Pay and Alipay

If the credit card information you submit is incomplete or if the credit card payment is declined, you are not registered in your course(s).

HKU Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities is not responsible for fluctuations in international exchange rates or interest charges due to the timing of credit card charges or refunds.

Application Materials
An applicant should submit a complete application online before the application deadline, please check the programme details for specific requirements. Please prepare the following documents before you proceed with the online application.​
Recent identity photograph of the applicant:

Photograph size: at least 40 mm (W) x 50 mm (H) or 1200 pixel (W) x 1600 pixel (H)

Image type: PDF or JPG

Photocopies of the applicant’s proof of identity:

Local students: Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card

Non-local students: Personal particular page of passport with validity period for at least 6 months AND the validated study visa (if applicable) / Hong Kong Identity Card (if applicable)
Note:

Please indicate the type(s) of supporting documents and your full name when uploading the files to our online application system. (e.g. Passport WONG Siu Ming Chris). File name must be in English.

Maximum upload size for each file is 5MB.

Please do not send any original documents to the Faculty by post.

Application will be processed only when ALL supporting documents are uploaded to the online application system before the deadline.

HKU Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities reserves the right to cancel a programme should there be insufficient enrolment or any unforeseen circumstances. Programme dates, content and fee are subject to change without prior notice. Students should pay attention to the programme website and email notification for any programme updates.
As all places are offered to successful applicants on a first-come, first-served basis, we will confirm your place at the HKU Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities only until your fees have been paid in full.
